Koh Mak Resort ★★★

Very friendly staff, all houses at the beach.

A calm resort with bungalows close to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff, nice and clean on the beach and the area around. From our bungalow we had about 20 metres to the beach where it was nearly no others. About 5 min with motorbikes to south side of the island if you want some more activity and restaurants.

Location is good. Breakfast just ok. Coffee is good. No vegan options (like everywhere else).

Almost no english except for the manager. Need to bring cash. Change rates are very bad. Toilet has no window. Bungalows a bit old, but ok. Big windows with nice sea view. Pool is useless. To cold water and in shades.

A little tired around the edges. fairly clean, friendly staff. very good tour operator on site.

many things we arrive in September witch is low season ,rainy season it rains a lot so the rooms we re quite humids from the lack of isolation… we arrived and they’ve organised a pick up from the pier to the resort , it was raining and the plastic windows had holes so we got wet from the beginning …pick up the key the lady at the reception wasn’t especially friendly …. she said the restaurant is open till 8pm every evening … we went the next day at 715 pm : close !!!! so we couldn’t eat in the evening … we had to wait till the next day cause no other options around the hotel due to low season everything was closed . we had the breakfast included but every morning the hour was changing one day from 0700-1000 next day they opened at 0800-1000 the third day they didn’t wake up untill 0900 , on top of this the choice fro the breakfast and the restaurant is really poor …. the staff are not professional …. we had to wait and bed for most of the things …. was a very bad experience in all…. yesterday night we didn’t have water to shower for 4 hours ….when I ve report this at the reception at the check out she only said to me that is because of low season ….. what a poor excuse …. they should not open in low season cause they can’t offer e decent service …. we were very happy to leave after 3 days …. in all our worst experience in Thailand so far …. so no I wouldn’t recommend this resort …. in low or high season ….

The location on island opposite with Koh Kam. Can ride the kayak to there.

The view is even better than on the picture and the rooms are just enough for what you need as you won't spend so much time in your room anyway. The staff is awesome, very helpful and caring. The breakfast is served from 7 to 10 am with American and Thai styles. The menu is very large too if you don't feel like hanging out. They serve cocktails on the beach and the music Playlist is quite nice too.

There is one thing I wish they had told me as I checked in though: that there were sand flies on the beach. I would have been more careful. So come prepared with some repellent spray. But apart from that, it is the perfect place to relax. I'll come back, I will for sure

Not clean, not good breakfast, terrible toilet , can not flush properly. and when used toilet downstair,the smell come upstair though the toilet. I used the laundry service,but when get it back , still dirty like not clean .

We've been on the Koh Mak Resort for the last 4 days after travelling through southeast asia by backpacking. It was a perfect stay. We lived there on a quiet island with a well ballanced luxury, not to less and not to much. We loved it. The staff and the manager is very helpful in everything.

The location is just amazing, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Nick at the reception was exceptionally nice and helpful. Lots of things to do from there. Restaurant is simple but food was great.

The only downside was breakfast, although it was OK it does have room for improvement.

The place is right on the best beach , restaurant has decent thai food, breakfast was good.Bungalows are a little old. But clean and comfy. The only problem we had was bed bugs, unfortunately after ten days we really wanted to leave the place, perhaps it was just our room. Would I stay there again. Yes.

Electrical wires on the back are dangerous so is moaquito spray inside the restaurant.... and of course no cleaning of plate / cutlery

Generous happy hour with superb drinks. Possibility to rent bykes, snorkelling and diving equipment. Own pier, but mind to book the right boat from the mainland, (Panan Speedboats). Other companies land at other piers.

The famous sand flies, a problem for my wife, but not for me. This is pure nature, and the Island is so unspoiled, beautiful.

Excellent for Relaxation, good facilities and Food/Drinks. Beach is suitable for small children because very shallow. Very helpfull staff

food, breakfast.... bar area run down... food terrible, no where to eat unless you rented motor bike, took a taxi into the funky, nothing town..... walked to Serena resort next door for dinner nice restaurant, but food not good either.... island not suited for families, nothing to do, no water sports. etc. quite remote. Service everywhere very slow, not good.

The staff were exceptionally helpful from the time we arrived, even arranging a free transfer from our ferry. We stayed in a beach front bungalow and had a gorgeous view to wake up to every morning. The room is just a bed and bathroom but there are chairs on the veranda to watch the sea from. The resort is quite busy wth day trippers as it has a ferry pier, but it is very convenient to Koh Kham which is definitely worth a visit. The bar offers a two for one happy hour which is a lovely way to end the day. The pool was also very nice. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

There are quite a lot of sandflies in the area and some litter in the beach, but that’s not the resort’s fault.

The beaches and scenery were amazing, picturesque, scenes from a magazine. Food and drinks were great and service was great. It was a wonderful relaxing time on the ocean. I literally did nothing but walk the shore, swim, eat, drink & lay on the sand and repeat..

Beds were hard as a rock, the room felt like a summer camp for kids,it was basic..the bathroom was old, the shower head was weird and there was no shower curtain or barrier to prevent water from getting all over the floor. The bathroom needs a remodel and the beds need replacing.
